After living in S C. for over 40 years, I am considering coming back after an absence of about ten years. The realestate POS tax as I understand it very well may change my mind. So far I can't find a real estate agent that understands it either.. One agent told me that if I purchased a 500.000.00 second home that I would also have to pay
an extra $30,000.. in sales tax. Another told me that no sales tax would be paid on purchase but that property taxes would be assessed based on purchase price.. Another one advised that the tax had never become effective while another advised that it had and was up for repeal. This has to be a hinderance to the State of S C
